Hey there. My name is Sam Hawkins and I welcome you to my site.
I’ve been messing around with solar power since 1983 when my wife Kim and I moved to Colorado. It was just after I had gotten out of the Army, which was where my interest first began. I wasn’t able to do anything with it, though, because of the schedule I was on at the time.
Once we moved to Colorado I had a little more time to learn about solar power, and Colorado was a great place to do it. Did you know Colorado has over 300 days of sunshine per year? Fantastic, isn’t it?
Anyway, I always wanted to harness the power of the sun to run all the electrical appliances and such in my home. I wouldn’t say I’m some big environmentalist, but I figure if we take better care of the planet, maybe it will take care of us. Bethany, my 16-year-old daughter, bugs me about this all the time. (She’s fallen in with an environmental crowd. I’m worried she may go vegetarian! )
Either way, I was also looking to save some money on electrical bills. Those of you who have followed the same path have also learned that you need to be very careful about thinking you’re going to save money!
Actually, it is possible, and I want to tell you all about it. I encourage you to download my free ebook where I talk a lot about solar power. You will also get my seven-day email course which will teach you even more. I have found ways to build my own solar panels for far less than commercial panels. I will tell you all about that.
Well, that’s it for now. I want to help you avoid the same mistakes I made in your own journey to self-sustaining power for your home (or your compound, if that’s how you roll). Let me know if you have any questions about this site or anything.
